Shazam! Fury of the Gods Writer Confirms a Shazamily Member Is Gay

Shazam! Henry Gayden, Fury of the Gods’ co-writer, reveals that a member of the World’s Mightiest Family was gay. This is something he fought for.

Pedro Pena, a Shazam Family member, has been confirmed as gay in Shazam! Henry Gayden, the DC movie’s co-writer, has written Fury of the Gods.

Gayden, who also wrote the first Shazam! movie discussed Pedro’s sexual orientation in an interview that he gave to Dorkaholics with Chris Morgan, his collaborator on the sequel. Gayden stated that the only thing new to [ Fury of the Gods] was being more open about Pedro being gay. “And that was hinted at in the original movie very subtly. It was a very important issue that I felt and fought to have in that movie.

It’s not the first time Pedro has been fleshed-out as a character. descriptions of the World’s Mightiest Family previously revealed new details about him. They stated that he’s struggled with self-confidence for some time and recently discovered a new interest in baseball. The rest of the Shazam Family also have facts such as Billy Batson struggling with his worthiness regarding his responsibilities as Big Red Cheese, and Freddy Freeman falling for a new girl at school. The clip later revealed that the new girl was Anthea. She is one of Fury of the Gods_’ villains, the Daughters of Atlas.

Apart from individual details, David F. Sandberg, the returning director, spoke about the Shazam Family in 2022 as a whole and their incompetence in being superheroes. They’ve been superheroes for quite a while, working to end crime and save lives. They’re not great at it. They’re known as the Philly Fiascos by Philadelphia,” Sandberg said at the time.

What’s next for Shazam?

Asher Angel, a Billy Batson actor expressed interest in Shazam being fully integrated into DC Universe by James Gunn, DC Studios co-head. Angel met Gunn previously on the sets of Gunn’s debut DC movie, The Suicide Squad. Angel said, “I met [Gunn] and I found him to be a super nice guy, genuine, and humble.” “Super passionate. He’s super talented. But for Peter Safran to join him, who I believe is so incredibly gifted at what they do, it’s a dream partnership. It makes perfect sense to pair them. It was inevitable. I hope that I [Billy Batson/Shazam] can integrate with other characters. But who knows? However, there are no plans for any other Shazam projects after Fury of the Gods. Dwayne Johnson is not currently scheduled to play Black Adam, Shazam’s arch-nemesis.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods opens in theaters on March 17.
