A talented Dragon Ball fan has created an epic gender-bending Vegeta cosplay.

The costume was posted on Reddit and then displayed at the event of Sakura-Con. It features the Prince of All Saiyan’s famous black hairstyle that is spiky and has a long flowing and flowing style. The costume also features a feminine take on the Saiyan traditional blue and white battle armor.

The huge Dragon Ball multimedia franchise began in 1984 with the publication of the first chapter from Akira Toriyama’s manga by the same title in Shuiesha’s Weekly Shonen Jump. The story follows Son Goku’s life from childhood to adulthood, as the battle-loving and food-addicted teenager learns martial arts and embarks on adventures. Through the years, Goku and his comrades face off against a variety of wacky but dangerous villains, including the galactic Tyrant Frieza and bio-android Cell.

Toriyama’s series is among the most popular ever, having more than 300 million copies sold worldwide. Because of its incredibly high amount of acclaim and popularity, Dragon Ball spawned multiple adaptations of the anime from Toei Animation and a plethora of spin-offs and tie-in films. The franchise also has an array of video games, collectibles and merchandise, themed park experiences, musical soundtracks, fan-made content, and even cosplay.

Recent fan-created content created by fans for Dragon Ball includes the gender-swapped Vegeta costume. For example, one Twitter user whose name is Berserk Boy uploaded a vibrant 8-bit video of Goku and Vegeta blasting each other with powerful energy beams. Filipina cosplayer rikkaxrose also displayed their version of Bulma Briefs the popular character among fans. They dressed the blue-haired engineer and scientist in the classic bunny costume.

The fans of Toriyama’s work have more to be excited over than the impressive cosplay and fan art. In particular, Toei Animation and Bandai Namco have released a trailer for new games in the Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi video game series. These games allow players to take control of fan-favorite characters such as Son Goku and Vegeta and fight it out. Many were surprised to hear that Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4 was revealed. A film adaptation of Toriyama’s Sand Land manga will be released at some point in the coming year. The film has the same tone and style as Dragon Ball. Beelzebub is played by Mutsumi Tamura (Tribe Nine), a prominent voice actor.
