Fans Rave Over Mechagodzilla Cosplay’s Amazing Kaiju Presentation
A dedicated Godzilla fan pays tribute to Kaiju’s iconic nemesis by meticulously creating their own Mechagodzilla Halloween costume.
This Halloween, this Halloween, a Godzilla costume honors the famed franchise.
Kai-Zilla, also known as @dr_kaju tweeted about the outfit on Twitter. Kai-Zilla wore the costume to G-Fest (also called Godzilla Fest), an annual festival that is themed around Godzilla as well as other franchises in the Kaiju genre. In three of the photos, Kai-Zilla is also seen sitting next to his father dressed as TARS. The non-humanoid robot was included in the 2014 science-fiction film Interstellar directed by Christopher Nolan.

Following his debut in the year 1974’s Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla directed by Jun Fukuda, Mechagodzilla was an integral part of the Godzilla series. The story of this film revolves around Godzilla’s battle with the metallic titan after aliens invented it intending to use it to help in their invasion of Earth. Mechagodzilla has since appeared in a variety of live-action and animated films such as Godzilla: City on the Edge of Battle (2018), Godzilla: Tokyo S.O.S (2003), Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II (1993), and Godzilla vs. Kong (2021) among others. The character was also featured in the 2011 science-fiction novel Ready Player One which was written by Ernest Cline and its titular 2018 film adaptation with the direction of Steven Spielberg.
The 2002 film Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla produced by Maasaki Tezuka, also had its U.S. theatrical debut in November. 3 that is internationally recognized as “Godzilla Day.” For this exclusive one-day-only screening that took place in over 450 theaters nationwide, The audience was able to see the original Japanese version of the film that included English subtitles and a never-before-seen featurette. On the same day, Godzilla attendees at G-Fest got to watch the world premiere of the film Godzilla Festival Gigan Attackdirected Kazuhiro Nakagawa ( Godzilla Vs. Hedorah). Nakagawa developed the short film in celebration of the 50th anniversary of Godzilla Vs. Gigan was directed by Jun Fukuda.

Godzilla fans received a lot of positive news
On Godzilla Day, fans also got official confirmation that another Godzilla film is in the works from Toho. Takashi Yamazaki who worked for Toho’s previous Godzilla film, Shin Godzilla, will serve as director for the film. The movie, which has yet to get an official title or working title, is set to release on November. 3, 2023. The follow-up to Legendary Pictures’ Godzilla vs. Kong is also being filmed and has a slated release date of March 15, 2024.
