Wonder Woman (also known as The New Adventures of Wonder Woman) was a hit show on ABC and CBS for three seasons from 1975 to 1978. The Wonder Woman series is about Carter’s Diana Prince/Wonder Woman who follows Steve Trevor back to 1940s America when he is trapped on Paradise Island. In the future, she decides to stay in America and combat the criminals. In the third and second seasons, the action was transferred into the 70s. Waggoner played Trevor’s son Steve Trevor Jr. Cathy Lee Crosby is the first actress to portray Wonder Woman live-action in the 1974 TV film Wonder Woman. But, Carter remained as the most popular version of Wonder Woman DC superhero until Gal Gadot stepped up for the DC Extended Universe.

Wonder Woman in Film

Gadot was Wonder Woman in Zack Snyder’s superhero film from 2016 Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. The actor reprised her role in the 2017 film Wonder Woman, which was both critically acclaimed and a huge box office huge success. Gadot also portrayed Wonder Woman, the DC superhero in Justice League (2017) and Wonder Woman 1984 (2020) that featured a scene in the middle of the credits from Carter as the great Amazon fighter Asteria. Gadot made her sixth and possibly last appearance as Wonder Woman in Shazam! Fury of the Gods, which came out in 2023. It saw Wonder Woman interact with the Shazam Family for the first time within the DCEU.

This obscure DC character is worthy of the John Wick 4 Star.

Does Gal Gadot continue to be part of the DCU?

Despite her appearance in Shazam! Gadot isn’t sure of her future in DC Universe, despite appearing in Fury of Gods. She was initially set to return to the role for a third Wonder Woman film but the plan was scrapped following the appointment of James Gunn and Peter Safran as the heads of DC Studios. Gunn stated that Gadot was not “booted” out of the famous DC role. However, he has not clarified whether he intends to reinstate her as Wonder Woman in future DCU projects.

The ambiguity surrounding Gadot’s future as Wonder Woman has been a source of some fan speculation that Ana de Armas ( Knives OutNo Time to DieGhosted) succeed Gadot as Wonder Woman. However, in a recent interview, de Armas stated that she believes that “Gadot is doing a great job” as Wonder Woman and that she thinks “she should keep doing that.” At this time, Gunn has not announced the details of his plans for Wonder Woman besides an Game of Thrones-style prequel series based on Themyscira before the birth of Diana Prince.
